Charles’s professional journey encompasses more than 18 years with Lenovo, culminating in his role as Director of ThinkPad's Sustainability Strategy. Under his leadership, his team at Lenovo designed and delivered some of the most innovative and sustainable global PC products, the Lenovo ThinkPad.
Elevating the ThinkPad to Unmatched Success and Sustainability
Charles is credited with contributing to the rise of the ThinkPad from #4 in the marketplace to ranking as the #1 commercial PC brand for over a decade. During Charles’s tenure at Lenovo, he also introduced the ThinkPad Edge, a budget-friendly Small & Medium Business (SMB) line of laptop computers that consistently sold over one million models annually.
This passion for success, coupled with his drive for problem-solving, has always been Charles’s guiding principle in technological sustainability. His broad experience in product design, portfolio management, and strategic partnerships has provided him with extensive insight into tackling the challenges of building complex products that successfully address ever-evolving customer preferences across the cultural concerns of a global marketplace.
A self-described lifelong learner, Charles holds a Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University, and he’s on track to receive certification in Life Cycle Assessment from the MIT Professional Education program in February 2025.
When not working, Charles enjoys riding his bike, listening to music, traveling to other countries, and spending time with his family. He and his wife live in Carrboro, NC, along with their son, two dogs, and two cats.
